On the first day of October, Amanda and I made our way to Andrews' Scenic Acres, one of the GTA's hidden gems. This farm is best known for its "pick-your-own" activity, where guests are invited to explore the vast farm fields and choose their own seasonal produce: strawberries and rhubarb in the spring, currants and gooseberries in the summer, and pumpkins, apples, and flowers in the fall. We luckily caught the tail end of dahlia season, and the farmlands were bursting with colourful flowers as far as the eye could see. I am so happy we found this magical place.
Humber College Lakeshore Campus
A few weekends ago I stumbled upon Humber College’s Lakeshore Campus in Mimico. Originally home to the Lakeshore Psychiatric Hospital, Humber College purchased the land in 1991 and began the intense restoration process of converting the defunct hospital into an animated college campus. Many of the hospital’s original buildings still remain to this day, characterized by their warm red brick facades and yellow trimmed windows. The campus was eerily empty on this beautiful Sunday morning, further lending to the unexpected past of these historic buildings.
