This year’s trip to Florida was not what I envisioned when I decided to join my parents for a relaxing week away. A few days after we arrived in Florida, Hurricane Helene made landfall and the barrier island of Siesta Key was hit hard by the storm. I am so grateful my family and I were safe and made it home in one piece, but it was difficult to witness the devastation of a community we consider a second home. Between Hurricane Helene and the most recent Hurricane Milton, most of the places in these images below are no longer the same. My thoughts are with the people (and animals) of Florida as they rebuild anew.

Along with my chunky Bronica, I also brought my Canon ELAN 7 with me to Florida. I love how all of these photographs turned out - I used one of my favourite films of all time, Kodak Colour Plus 200, and the colours and grain look magical in the Florida light.
